RA, RA! SIS-BOOM-BAH!

I'm going to be the RA of 10W next year :).
Early Thursday morning I was startled out of my sleeping by a plethora of screaming and giggling girls with a flashlight. I made my way up to the tenth floor where I was dressed like a tea-bag and taught the "horah", a Jewish dance. I was initiated even in so far that I rapped a song they had written for me.

They were (and are) wonderful.
The girls, most of which have never met me, had coffee and pancakes ready upon my arrival. Nearly the entire floor was congregated in the lounge with smiling faces at 5 in the morning. They gave me a really sweet mug from Anthropologie! Bottom line: they're sweet and I'm very excited.

I'm very excited in general, actually.
I've been given so many opportunities this semester and crazy changes are happening in my heart, mind, and circumstances. I am very much learning what it's like to live in the truths of: "the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position; and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away" (James 1:9-10). I've lived uncomfortably on both sides of many conditions and I treasure the challenges that have grown and stretched me.

And, I'm painting bigger strokes than ever before...
The undeniable joys hidden in my heart are finding their way out as I take bigger leaps of obedience and make bigger messes as well. I've fallen hard, but learned to fly high too. Each day I do my best to live in the place where trust and graditude collide; and I'm finding that to be rather beautiful.

What's The "Skinny"?

This past weekend we had our first VOLLEYBALL tournamnet! This whole adventure has definitely challenged me both physically and mentally, but God knew I needed these girls. After our first tournament (and taking first place!), I just can't wait for more to come!

My New Room!

^^Two sweet things: My Wall Map & The View From My Window!! The map's a good, constant, reminder that I'm not the center of the universe. The view... it rocks just as much (maybe more) at night.

Finally, Here's to a semseter of being BOLD.

So, I wrote a letter to a state rep, pretty much pleading for him to cosponsor a newly proposed bill that concerns international aid to Fistula prevention and relief, (ahh- crazy cool opportunity)! Join me by getting your Pray on ;).

More to come, stay tuned.

Orientation Weekend at Moody

You know that you’re a new student when…
-You park your car in a ramp that locks at 5pm, and you don’t have a key; with your socks, chap-stick, and coffee maker stranded inside!
-You assume “SDR” stands for Student Diet Regulations, (when it really abbreviates Student Dining Room). You also think "CPO" might be a Star Wars reference, when in fact it relates to the Post Office.
-Your schedule for the morning reads “Breakfast, Orientation 1, Orientation 2, Orientation 3, & Lunch”.
-You get stuck in the basement tunnels because the building you wanted to exit through won't be open for another hour.

-You re-organize your closet three times, and then realize you’ve got a five-drawer empty dresser you should be using as well.

I am also so thankful that former students are welcoming…
-“Welcome to Moody Bridal Institute”
-“You’re from the North aren’t you?” … “I could tell by your accent.”
-“I see you’re eating a pita, are you a ‘Veg’? All vegetarians love the pitas.”
-“Oh WI, are you a Brett Favre fan?”

Honestly though, I feel so blessed. This town and school have been so refreshing to me and I’ve never felt more led. I’m expectant and excited for what’s to come. I’ve been meeting so many amazing people; fueling a sort of crave inside me to just want to know people here – to really know them. I’m thankful for the chance to experience freedom and independence. I can’t wait to see what sort of opportunities are to come, and experiences I’ll have.

I’ll meet my roommate tonight and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m filled with a childlike anticipation of what this week will bring. It’s embarrassing how badly I want to soak in all that the professors here have to offer. Coming from a public school I know that I’ll appreciate what they offer on a whole new level. I’m hungry to be trained.

I finally found where I belong. (THANK GOD!!!!)
